First post!

I want to start with a ‘Happy New Year’ greeting but

  1. It’s Jan 20th (too late? or?)
  2. This year is already looking questionable

I’m choosing to believe we can make it better though, even in little ways. Intention is vital.  So have that ‘Happy New Year’ anyway!

Some book picks from 2020

Not the best at picking favourites. If you ask me, we will stand here until tomorrow…. so here are a few books I loved reading over the past year for different reasons. No Particular order

In The Ditch by Buchi Emecheta

Don’t Let Me Be Lonely by Claudia Rankine

People From My Neighbourhood by Hiromi Kawakami

Surge By Jay Bernard

Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei Brenyah

paperback social 2020 reads

My Brilliant Friend- Elena Ferrante

The Vegetarian – Han Kang

The Vanishing Half Brit Bennett

From Black Lives Matter To Black Liberation by Keeanga Yamahtta Taylor

I set out to read about 30 books last year and I juuust did it. I was surprised considering how the demanding the year was- we could probably all attest to that. I’d like to say thanks to everyone who interacts with me here, I really appreciate it. It’s been a welcome escape and has definitely helped me read more.  I hope I’ve helped you too! I love sharing ideas on different things and hearing your thoughts on books and the world

Anyone who knows me knows that I enter each new year with unbound optimism- that’s going to be much more of a challenge this year, I can’t lie! But I’m very hopeful. I don’t think it will be easy but day by day! As long as we are happy, healthy and have our sanity on the other side, it will be a win. Peace first. Everything else will be a plus

Thankful for another year

The best of 2021 to you!
